When the Justice for App Workers movement began in February 2022, we made a promise to fight to transform the app work industry. Since then, we have made huge strides in New York, Illinois, Florida, and beyond, and our movement has made national and international headlines. We’ve been committed to winning better working conditions for app workers, and this summer is no different. Read below to learn how to get involved in Justice for App Workers this summer!
End rideshare lockouts in NYC
On June 26, we’re driving to the Falchi Building to end lockouts for NYC rideshare drivers!
Rideshare drivers work extremely hard, and in return, we deserve wages and working conditions that allow us to do our jobs without worrying about putting food on the table for our families.
We need to stop lockouts, NOW! That’s why on Wednesday, June 26 at 8:30am, we’re rallying with our coalition member group, the Independent Drivers Guild, to demand an end to this terrible practice that is devastating rideshare drivers. Let’s make our voices heard against this unfair measure and ensure that we get what we deserve!

Being an app driver can be challenging – we’re all just trying to provide for our families, and even though rideshare drivers won a minimum wage last year, the rideshare companies’ dirty tactics have cut NYC drivers’ incomes in half. That’s why we’re taking this to the Taxi and Limousine Commission and demanding that they do something about this issue NOW.
There are tens of thousands of app workers in New York City, and we know that if we work together, we can end lockouts for rideshare drivers. Join us on June 26!
Celebrate our community at Chicago GigFest
You’re invited to Chicago GigFest on August 10!
As rideshare drivers and delivery workers, our jobs can be exhausting. We work long hours to make ends meet, we face constant challenges and threats to our safety, and we have to deal with the fact that we can be deactivated with the push of a button.
While we’re all fighting the good fight, we know workers also deserve to relax and take a break along with our community. That’s why we’re inviting YOU and your family to our third annual Chicago GigFest, from 12pm-4pm on Saturday, August 10!
This is a chance to celebrate all our progress together, along with delicious halal food, stalls, games, and family fun – all for free! All app workers and their families are welcome, so spread the word.
As we celebrate our community, we’re also working to end unfair deactivations for Chicago-area rideshare drivers. Every day, app drivers in Chicago are at risk of losing our incomes and careers. Just one false complaint by a passenger, and we can be locked out with the click of a button. The worst part is, we get banned from every single rideshare app at once and lose our incomes overnight, with no chance to appeal the decision. But Justice for App Workers is fighting back, and we will keep you updated on what we can do to win due process for Chicago drivers!
